Work

October 1, 2014

Work

Work is that thing
That delights a heart
At days’ end.
When one looks back and sees
A clean-swept garage, all neat and
Organized,
Or the fresh, soft dirt in demure,
Little rows covering tiny seeds,
Or empty tables after
A successful yard sale.

Work is being dog-tired
With a clean house and
Laundry done,
Or dragging in after
Clearing brush and
Cutting trees.

And that smile work gives!
Ah! the feeling!
Of honest work done to
The best of my ability
That shoots a smile of
Happiness,
An invisible message
To those you love
Who know work,
And send back
An equal reply.

Praise

June 10, 2012

Praise

The little rain
Makes a sound
As it joins together
And comes from the heavens.
It is the applause
Heard across a vast auditorium.
But much grander,
It is the sound
Of creation,
Clapping its hands
In praise
To our Great God.
The background splash cymbal
Sounds for effect.
The droplets
From off the roof
Play an intricate tattoo
On the inverted bucket below.
The clapping sinks
And swells,
As wave upon wave
Of memories
Of the greatness of
Our good God
Come to mind.
Our God has brought again the rain!
