Our Example
The Lord of
glory, our Savior, Christ,
Came down
to earth and gave His life.
Thirty-three
years He loved and served
And from
His Father’s will ne’er swerved.
Creator
God, Incarnate Man,
Humbly
stooped to sinful man.
He put no difference
between
The wicked
wretch or miser-king,
But showed,
through acts of grace and love,
The
repentant can know God above.
The ones He
touched were oft’ outcasts:
He touched
unclean and lower-class.
He spoke to
women (marginalized),
Looked “social
scum” right in the eyes,
And now, in
James chapt’ two, verse one,
A call to
do the same is shown:
‘Have not
the faith of our Glorious Christ
With evil
thoughts toward “lesser lives.”’
Since early
youth I had the thought:
Why’m I
surrounded by the “out-of-touch”?
Why don’t I
have the “cooler” friends,
Why stuck,
more often, with misfits?
But this
was wrong, I see it now,
(I am a
misfit, too, myself!),
Those early
years, God’s will was worked
To give me
love for those with quirks.
All around,
the “in’s” crowd out
Ones Christ
would use without a doubt.
And who will take the time to show
The love He
gave to outcast folks?
Certainly
this work is not
The
glam’rous type some hope to get.
And messy
spots and “hairy” times
Will
punctuate the work oft’ times.
But do it,
if God’s calling you
Into this
business; don’t refuse!
How
glorious the things He plans
More
beautiful than any man’s!
Trust
Christ, the Lord of Glory brave;
Show love
to those He came to save.
