Sunday
I love
Sundays! Those mornings dawn
With
certain anticipation:
One of
excitement of joining
In worship-participation!
The air
smells fresher, the light more cheerful,
(Even on rainy Sundays!).
(Even on rainy Sundays!).
“We’re
going to meet with brethren at church
And join
together in praise!”
We move
along preparing ourselves
In mind, in
body, in heart,
Looking ahead
to the service
Of which we
can all be a part.
What joy!
What grace! That sinful men
Are
allowed, through Christ, to worship!
The Holy
Ghost has claimed our souls
And causes
our heart to adore Him!
We don our
clothes, the best we have,
And take
our Bibles in hand.
We gather
our offerings for the Lord
To give to
the church and His man.
We pick up
a pen and notebook,
For there’s
always something to learn.
The Lord
will give us wisdom
Through His
people and His Word.
The
distance to our destination
Gives time
to reflect or share thoughts.
The trip
does nothing to dampen
Or quell
the desire of our hearts.
And what is
this hope, this desire?
To have the
dear Lord meet us there
As we
gather together to worship
Through
singing, or readings, or prayer.
Oh, Lord,
meet us, help us, come to us!
We claim no
worth of our own;
We seek Thy
Holy, sweet Presence
Only through
Thy Precious Son.
Thank Thee
for Sundays so special,
A day set
aside for our rest,
A day we,
together, give glory
To Thou Who
deservest our best!
