O LORD,
Thou knowest well that I
Would like
t’be a Christian’s wife.
Thou
knowest each of my desires,
(May I rest
in Thee where I’d conspire):
There are
so many things that he “must be”,
(So few of
those things do I know, really!),
Therefore,
I ask, Father, if Thou would,
Mold me a
man as Thou seest good.
According
to Thy Will may he be strong—
Not simply
physically, but hating wrong.
May his
every passion copy Thine.
May his
choices be fruit from The Vine.
May his
greatest love and highest call
Be to serve
Thee LORD and give Thee all.
May the
plight of souls be his thought oft’.
May his
hands work hard, but heart be soft.
LORD, these
are things which I'd like for sure,
Lesser
things, (like features), I’d prefer.
I’d love,
with him, to raise some boys and girls
To raise
them for Your Name in this rough world.
I have no
expertise in such a feat,
I know with
every challenge You are meet.
LORD, that
You'd use him as You mold my life—
Make me a holy
Christian, godly wife.
May You use
me likewise for him, too,
That
somehow I would sharpen him for You.
Only Thou,
LORD, knowest everything;
Marriage is
more than first appears, I see.
Only You
can keep two people close
Only You
gain glory from them both.
LORD, if it
be Thy Will, one day I’d like
To
marry. O may You guide this life!
