My Calling
Beyond the
barbed-wire fence,
The pasture
full of green
With placid,
chewing cows
‘Neath
clouds all white-serene,
There is
another world
Most which
I’ve never known,
A world so
opposite
To that in
which I’ve grown.
But now my
mind has glimpsed
The shadows
of the other,
And now my
heart inclines
With love
toward foreign brothers.
The needs
I’ve caught by phrase,
By picture,
or suggestion
Cause me to
look at Christ and say,
“I give all
with no question.”
Thou,
Sovereign, know’st my path
And what
Thy Great Will is
And what
Thou would with “my life” do—
I give Thee
all of this.
