Hosting the Shepherd
The
Precious LORD, our Shepherd
Annoints
the sheep’s tired head,
But the
Shepherd vis’ting our table
Finds no
oil put on His head.
The
Shepherd leading His sheep
Gives them
water and ample food,
But the
Shepherd vis’ting our table
Is given a
meal quite rude.
The
Shepherd watches His flock,
Defending
His wandering herd.
But the
Shepherd vis’ting our table
Is fought against
with every word.
Oh,
Shepherd! How gracious Your treatment!
What care
You’ve given Your sheep!
But the
treatment You’ve had at our table
Is enough
to make any weep!
Oh,
Shepherd! I’ve failed You so often!
I’ve
treated You my enemy
I’ve
strayed and got caught in this thorn bush
Unworthy, I
beg, “Please come find me!”
