The Heritage

My Meemaw passed away,

‘Twill be two weeks tomorrow

And ‘though I miss her so today,

For her I do not sorrow.

She knew and loved the LORD

And showed Him to her children.

She read and loved His blessed Word

And prayed for friends and kindred.

What a legacy she left!

As descendants we must take

The attitude: “We’re not bereft,

But have a choice to make!”

First, will we serve the LORD?

Will we give all to Him?

Will we live by His Holy Word?

Surrender all our sin?

Then, will we take our cross?

Will we deny ourselves?

Will we seek Christ Who seeks the lost

And gave all of Himself?

I think, above everything,

Above any gift we could give,

We’d honor Meemaw’s legacy

If we for Christ will live.
